When founder and Chairman Bill Hare played Santa Claus at Dover Air Force Base in 2013, he realized something essential was missing in the state of Delaware. As a little girl prepared to tell him what she wanted for Christmas, he caught the child's mother out of the corner of his eye indicating that he should not promise to bring the little girl what she wanted: a Barbie doll. The mother had been working nights with her husband caring for the children during the day. When he was deployed, she was unable to switch her hours and was forced to quite her job because she could not afford daycare. Quite simply, the more could not afford a Barbie doll. And so the idea for Delaware Military Support was born.
